These biomorphic forms caught the attention of collectors such as Beth Rudin DeWoody, Tobias Meyer, and Ronnie Sassoon and have been part of museum exhibitions as well as single-artist gallery shows. Following the inclusion of three of Allen's works in the 2014 Whitney Biennial, Time magazine named one of the pieces in their five best works in the Biennial. This is the first volume devoted to this emerging artist's work, with newly commissioned photography of Allen's studios in Joshua Tree, California, and Tepoztlan, Mexico--two spaces designed and built by Allen.

Canto contigo : a novel / by Garza Villa, Jonny,author.(CARDINAL)882168;
In a twenty-four-hour span, Rafael Alvarez led North Amistad High School's Mariachi Alma de la Frontera to their eleventh consecutive first-place win in the Mariachi Extravaganza de Nacional; and met, made out with, and almost hooked up with one of the cutest guys he's ever met. Now eight months later, Rafie's ready for one final win. What he didn't plan for is his family moving to San Antonio before his senior year, forcing him to leave behind his group while dealing with the loss of the most important person in his life--his beloved abuelo. Another hitch in his plan: The Selena Quintanilla-Perez Academy's Mariachi Todos Colores already has a lead vocalist, Rey Chavez--the boy Rafie made out with--who now stands between him winning and being the great Mariachi Rafie's abuelo always believed him to be. Despite their newfound rivalry for center stage, Rafie can't squash his feelings for Rey. Now he must decide between the people he's known his entire life or the one just starting to get to know the real him.Accelerated Reader AR

Deberías hablar con alguien : una psicóloga, su terapeuta y un viaje revelador por el alma humana / by Gottlieb, Lori,author.(CARDINAL)541056; Simó Perales, Victoria,translator.(CARDINAL)788498;
One day, Lori Gottlieb is a therapist who helps patients in her Los Angeles practice. The next, a crisis causes her world to come crashing down. Enter Wendell, the quirky but seasoned therapist in whose office she suddenly lands. With his balding head, cardigan, and khakis, he seems to have come straight from Therapist Central Casting. Yet he will turn out to be anything but. As Gottlieb explores the inner chambers of her patients' lives--a self-absorbed Hollywood producer, a young newlywed diagnosed with a terminal illness, a senior citizen threatening to end her life on her birthday if nothing gets better, and a twenty-something who can't stop hooking up with the wrong guys--she finds that the questions they are struggling with are the very ones she is now bringing to Wendell. With startling wisdom and humor, Gottlieb invites us into her world as both clinician and patient, examining the truths and fictions we tell ourselves and others as we teeter on the tightrope between love and desire, meaning and mortality, guilt and redemption, terror and courage, hope and change. [This book] is revolutionary in its candor, offering a deeply personal yet universal tour of our hearts and minds and providing the rarest of gifts: a boldly revealing portrait of what it means to be human, and a disarmingly funny and illuminating account of our own mysterious lives and our power to transform them.
