Josephine tells everyone that she will be learning to grow a longer neck. Hazel and Josephine talk about being scared and excited at the same time. Hazel says she is more excited than scared, but Josephine wants to leave as soon as they arrive. Mr. Bulldog, the Principal, welcomes them in, gives Hazel a trombone, and directs them to their classes. Josephine goes to the active attractive animals class where she meets Mrs. Mongrel, her teacher, Posie, a spotted elephant, and Rosie, a striped elephant, J.R. Giraffe, who is shy, and Samuel S. Snake, who cannot hiss. In her class, Hazel learns to play the trombone quickly and expresses a desire to play in an orchestra like her father. J.R. Giraffe plays the hoof organ. Hazel is scheduled to receive a reading lesson and loves the school. Josephine wants to see Hazel right after class. Mr. Rogers talks about making pictures to accompany a story, and says that the ability to pretend anything is one of the things that makes life wonderful. He says that a person is more than the sum of his or her parts, and tries yet again to play the trombone.DVD.
