When loving father and husband Nick is killed in an accident inadvertently caused by a very unloving con man, Eddie, his family is devastated. Their pain keeps Nick in a sort of limbo between heaven and Earth, unable to move on. In an effort to bring some closure, Nick's wife and children gather at their lake cabin, where they enjoyed happier times. Eddie ends up hiding at the lake and crashes a stolen boat, leading to serious injuries. As he hovers between life and death, Nick's spirit comes to him.
